From December 26 to 30, 2025, Associate Professor Mohd Zamir Pakhuruddin from Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM)—a member university of the University Network for Research Collaboration: A Belt and Road Science and Technology Initiative (iUNRC)—visited Chongqing University. The visit focused on academic exchange, research collaboration, the advancement of iUNRC working group initiatives, and the promotion of iUNRC Innovation Fund projects, aiming to further strengthen China–Malaysia cooperation in the field of green manufacturing research.
On the morning of December 27, Professor Kun Li from the College of Mechanical and Vehicle Engineering, Chongqing University, met with Associate Professor Zamir and accompanied him on a visit to the Huxi Campus. Professor Li introduced Chongqing University’s recent progress in discipline development, research platforms, and international collaboration. The two sides also exchanged views on further deepening research cooperation and expanding collaborative areas based on their existing partnership.
That afternoon, Associate Professor Zamir delivered an academic lecture at the Chongqing University Science Center, entitled “Overview of Nano Optoelectronics Research and Technology (INOR), Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM).” The lecture provided a systematic overview of USM and INOR’s research landscape and ecosystem, with a particular focus on their distinctive strengths, representative research directions, and international collaboration experience in nano-optoelectronics and advanced semiconductor technologies. Within the framework of the Belt and Road Initiative, he also shared INOR’s practices in cross-border research collaboration and technology translation. Following the lecture, faculty members and students engaged in in-depth discussions on related research topics, reaching multiple consensuses regarding future collaborative research, academic exchanges, and project coordination.
On December 28, accompanied by Professor Li, Associate Professor Zamir experienced firsthand the urban development and scientific research innovation environment of Chongqing, enriching his understanding for future collaboration.
