International Conference on Climate Change: Ecosystem Resilience and Adaptation (2026)
I. Basic Information
Conference Theme: Addressing Climate Change: Ecosystem Resilience and Adaptation
Conference Date: April 24-26, 2026
Conference Venue: Chongqing University
II. Conference Brief
Global climate change is reshaping natural ecosystems and human societies at an unprecedented scale and speed. Frequent extreme weather events, rapid biodiversity loss, and growing threats to food and water security have become common challenges for humanity. Agroecosystems, particularly rice paddy systems that serve as major global food sources, are under multiple pressures including productivity fluctuations and ecological function degradation due to their high dependence on stable climatic conditions. Against this backdrop, enhancing ecosystem resilience and promoting science-based adaptation have become international priorities, as reflected in the UN 2030 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), the Paris Agreement, and the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework.
Initiated based on a representative international collaborative project supported by the University Network for Research Collaboration: a Belt and Road Science and Technology Initiative (iUNRC)—“Impact of Climate Change on the Sustainability of Rice Paddy Ecosystems in Malaysia”—jointly undertaken by Chongqing University (CQU) and Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM), the International Conference on Climate Change: Ecosystem Resilience and Adaptation (2026) will be held from April 24 to 26, 2026 in a hybrid format (in-person & online) at Chongqing University, Chongqing, China. The conference aims to establish an open, inclusive, and collaborative international platform, bringing together leading scientists, policy experts, industry leaders, and young scholars from around the world to share cutting-edge research findings, explore scientific pathways, technological solutions, and governance models for enhancing ecosystem resilience, promote South-South cooperation and cross-disciplinary dialogue, and build a climate-resilient future in line with global sustainable development goals.
