The university was established on May 6, 1991 by the Decree of the President of Republic of Uzbekistan.
The university serves as a flagship educational institution of the Republic of Uzbekistan in the field of architecture and construction. It is responsible for fulfilling the objectives set for higher education under the National Program for Personnel Training. The university comprises the four Faculties:
1.Faculty of Architecture
2.Faculty of Construction
3.Faculty of Engineering
4.Faculty of Management.
It also includes an academic lyceum, two centers for the professional development and retraining of managerial personnel in the construction sector, 5 professional colleges.
Tashkent University of Architecture and Civil Engineering employs 350 academic staff members, including 28 Doctors of Science and Professors, and 121 PhD and Associate Professors. Total of 56.6% of the faculty members hold academic degrees and titles. Every year, more than two thousand students enter the university in 16 undergraduate programs and 20 graduate programs. During their studies, students have the opportunity to gain in-depth theoretical knowledge and scientific-practical guidance. The university hosts specialized academic councils for the defense of doctoral dissertations in the fields of Architecture and Civil Engineering. Scientific and pedagogical personnel are trained in 7 academic areas through the university’s Department of Science and Academic Staff Development. The university's research activities are included in the State Scientific and Theoretical Program for the development of the Republic of Uzbekistan’s priority directions.
The university's specialists accept commissions for construction engineering, design of public and residential buildings, assessment of seismic resistance of buildings and premises, and the production of high-quality construction materials based on technogenic waste. The university’s publishing and editorial division publishes textbooks, educational manuals, monographs, and collections of scientific works.
